Safety
Babywearing has many benefits. First of all, this is close contact with the mother, calming the child. The baby cries less, because this is simply not necessary. Warmth and food are nearby, and the tight tension of the fabric creates the effect of a womb, helping the child adapt faster. When the baby is calm, the mother quickly adapts to the new role and feels more confident. She makes better decisions, is more organized and is happier. And the safety of the child is, of course, the most important part of this story.
Before you buy a baby carrier, make sure it actually fits you. In advertising photographs, pay attention to the baby: the sling should support his back in a slightly rounded position; hips - from knee to knee, forming a physiological M-position. In this position, the child will not have a load on the fragile spine. When choosing a sling for a newborn, make sure that it has the ability to support the baby's neck and head. Do not buy fakes of well-known brands or “know-name” slings - such carriers will be far from world quality standards and can harm the child.
Safety
Have you made your choice? Super! Before first use, carefully review the instructions or video tutorial. Make sure your baby is in a good mood, well-fed, wearing a clean diaper, not dressed too warmly and not sleepy. If you are afraid to learn how to wind on your own, ask someone close to you to be with you and provide backup if necessary. If you are not 100% sure that the baby is positioned correctly in the sling, contact a sling consultant or manufacturer for help.
Comfort and connection
Some more useful tips
- Always hold your baby with one hand until the sling is completely tied or fastened.
- Check your wrap for all safety checks when learning how to wind your sling.
- The baby's face should be constantly in your field of vision.
- Hold your child with one hand when passing through doors, in crowds, or walking up stairs. Be careful and use ice pads if you carry your baby in a sling in the winter.
- Never use a sling as a car seat!
- Don't do anything potentially dangerous with your baby in a sling. Cooking, cleaning the house using household chemicals, playing sports (running, jumping, dancing), riding a bicycle or sailing in a boat can cause injury to a child.
